Thought of starting this thread to gain insight on what IBR wears and what we feel about it.

While posting, please provide the following information:

******************************
 1. Helmet make and model?
 2. How much did you pay?
 3. From where did you buy it?
 4. Pros and Cons
******************************

So let me start

Helmet make and model
Studds Shifter

studds_shifter.jpg

Cost: Rs. 1820

Bought it from: Snapdeal.com

Pros:
 • Good removable inner padding. Better than Ninja 3G.
 • Sliding inner sun-glasses. Covers till chin area. Can be put on with spectacles as well. Depends on head-size of course.
 • Nice design (at least the one I use - orange one)
 • Good paint job
Cons:
 • The jaw protector is not wider or outside. Hence it is very close to the jaw.
 • The glue that sticks inner padding to the shell is not effective. After 6 months of use, it has started coming off. Yet, wont be an issue when you put on the helmet.
 • Can hear wind-blast at 70kmph. That's too less.

I Wear a Studds Ninja 3G.
Bought it from Adventure Essentials (Airoli) for Rs. 1850.

Pros
@ I wear glasses so required a half face but for most rides & safety view-point, fullface is good so this one offering choice of both was my choice.
@ It provides inner shaded visor which can be used if you're not wearing sunglasses (limited choice for me as I require power-sunglasses & have only 2 pairs)
@ Its complete black so can be customized as & when required.
But beauty of the piece is the RE Sticker on the back...Thanks Machha Bhai..

Cons
# None as of now, however I'd miss removable & washable padding feature.

Brand: SOL
Model: SM-1
Price: Rs 8500/-
Bought: Imported from Taiwan.

Pros :

· Very sturdy
· Excellent fit
· Soft and comfortable padding

· Very good customer support
· Almost zero noise (Good enough to hear someone honking at the back)

Cons :

· My batch had a little problem with sunglasses slider at the top, customer support sent the replacement twice from Taiwan.
· No Anti-Fog

Overall, a very good helmet at a decent price. Been a year since i am using.

Helmet make and model : LS2 FF386

Cost : 4800 (2012)

Purchased from : Vega Store (Andheri E)

Pros :

 • Good cushioning and removable/washable padding
 • Good sliding inner sun protect
 • All parts of the helmet can be dismantled and put back together for cleaning purpose
 • All parts and accessories are easily available and can be changed
 • Have changed inner padding and visor

If you have a helmet that has a non removable inner padding/liner, you can use upholstery/carpet cleaning spray - spray, let dry, use a vacuum cleaner. Works good

Brand: MT
Model: MT AXXIS Geo 4
Price: Rs 4150/-
Bought: A H Helmets
691/1, Adarsh Nagar, New Link Road,
Oshiwara, Andheri West,
Mumbai - 400 102.
Tel: +91 22 – 26743088 Mob: +91 97699 02249
URL: http://spartanprogear.com/Helmet.aspx?mc=1

Pros:

Aggressive tapered race style fit- Helps significantly at high speeds of 125+KMPH
Aerodynamic contoured shell-More safety
Dual Certification - ECE R22.05 and DOT
Double-D Ring Fastening System-More secured
Effective Venting in chin and top of helmet
Removable and washable hypo-allergenic cheekpads and liners-Cleaning the Helmet has been pretty fun now.
Certified scratch-resistant optically corrected visors-Now I need to comment on this, used during heavy rains in Mumbai, the visor acts to its saying.
Quick Release Tooless Visor Ratchets-Easy for cleaning the visor with foam.

Cons:
Weight-1.5Kg
Double-D Ring Fastening System-It troubles you when you are a frequent smoker or sip water, every time you need to take the helmet off completely.
Visor- It gets a bit foggy during instant rains in Mumbai or cold outside but adapts quickly to the temperature of air we breathe and clears out the fog for clear viewing.

LS2 & SOL brands, are the best helmet manufacturer's I have seen so far, when It comes to graphics, cushioning, padding, the shells reliability during a crash even the aero dynamics. I Have Been using LS2 brand for almost 4 years roughly, no complaints... this is my second one...

Apart from LS2 and SOL there are good helmets available today in the market...MT and SHIRO are 2 brands that are also giving a good competition to the former brands

Again its also about how much one can spend, people today are happy with STUDDS too and their helmets are good as well

Ordered Shiro SH-821 (White-Red) yesterday through snapdeal for Rs. 3900. AH Helmets at Oshiwara, Mumbai was selling it for Rs. 4700. I tried many helmets on Sunday but Shiro stands apart. The looks and design is apt for bullet riders. Will post my review as soon as it is delivered.
